An intercom is a widely used security system, widely used in homes and businesses. An intercom is one type of access control system and allows for monitoring unauthorized access to premises or restricted areas. There are various types of intercoms, from simple voice-activated devices to complex systems that transmit and record color images, allowing for the control of multiple door locking devices.
Intercoms
An intercom typically consists of an external and an internal unit. The external unit is the intercom's call panel, which is used to call and communicate with the person controlling access to the premises. The intercom's call panel can be equipped with a call button or buttons, a microphone, a color or black-and-white surveillance camera, an electronic key reader, and a motion sensor. The internal unit is essentially the intercom itself – a color or black-and-white monitor, an audio communication system, a lock control unit, and an image recording system.
Intercoms come in various types. Individual or shared intercoms are widely used, and some intercoms have one or more call panels, and can control one or more locks or other locking devices. Some types of intercoms allow you to record visitor images, connect additional surveillance cameras, and other auxiliary devices.
Using an intercom can improve a number of security issues, including restricting access to a premises, obtaining information about visitors who have entered while you're away, and remotely controlling door opening. The range of intercom models currently available allows you to equip virtually any property, be it a private apartment, a house, or a commercial structure.
