Portable Concertina Wire Barrier

Portable concertina wire barrier

The use of security systems does not always mean installing a single static barrier at a specific site. In many situations, circumstances are such that the deployment of cutting, protective, or fencing structures becomes necessary in completely unexpected locations. To meet this requirement, a suitable security solution exists – the technology of portable concertina wire barriers. As the name suggests, the following describes barriers that can be relocated when required and installed at a chosen point.

To begin with, we should mention the raw material. The main material used for manufacturing portable barriers is Egoza razor wire. Egoza razor wire serves as the base material from which a concertina wire barrier, or Bruno spiral – a cylinder formed as a spiral – is produced. The concertina wire barrier is then fixed onto special frames that provide the ability to transport and deploy it. For carrying and deploying the portable concertina wire barrier, frames are mounted on both sides of the spiral barrier, allowing the structure to be positioned in place. Depending on the spiral diameter and the intended use of the barrier, the frame design may differ.

A portable concertina wire barrier is supplied and stored in a folded state, which makes it easy to transport. To use the portable concertina wire barrier as a protective structure, two operators must pull the barrier by its opposite ends in different directions so that the cylinder becomes parallel to the ground. The barrier is equipped with handles for carrying and stretching, as well as ground anchoring devices. The robustness of this structure is beyond doubt – it withstands crowd pressure and can resist light wheeled vehicles. If necessary, several portable concertina wire barriers can be arranged in a line to form an obstacle of virtually unlimited length.

It is advisable to use portable concertina wire barriers in situations involving riots, special operations, and similar scenarios. Looking at the history of such barriers, it can be noted that the first portable barrier of this type was the Bruno spiral. This barrier was used during World War I to block infantry movement and create obstacles for personnel and vehicles. At that time, portable barriers were made of ordinary barbed wire; today, portable barriers use modern Egoza razor wire.

Supplied to the perimeter security market, portable concertina wire barriers are manufactured from high-quality materials using modern technology. They have compact dimensions, are convenient to transport, and provide an adequate level of protection. A wide range of portable concertina wire barriers is available, differing in their technical characteristics and overall design.
